A randomly named public mailbox
TempMail creates a random mailbox name at maildrop.cc and uses Maildrop’s public GraphQL API to retrieve messages. No personal forwarding address is required. Messages use the same search, read, and delete controls as the other source.
Maildrop addresses are public. A random name makes accidental guessing less likely, but anyone who knows the address may be able to access its mailbox. Do not use it for confidential communication.
Why a message may take longer
Maildrop documents greylisting for first-time senders: the receiving server temporarily rejects the initial delivery, and the sending server should retry. Its documentation says most sending servers retry within about 15 minutes.
TempMail’s refresh interval cannot shorten that server-to-server process. If an email is not arriving, check the submitted address, the sender’s retry behavior, and the status of your session before creating a replacement address.
Capacity and retention are limited
Maildrop keeps up to 10 messages per inbox and removes older messages when new ones exceed that capacity. Inactive mailboxes can be cleared after 24 hours without incoming mail, and eviction may happen during high usage.
Your TempMail session lasts one hour regardless of Maildrop’s upstream retention. Save any low-stakes information you need while it is available. Maildrop cannot send outgoing email, and TempMail does not support replies.
